CVE-2023-36002

Information disclosure via unauthenticated DNS lookups

Published Jun 27, 2023 · Updated Nov 6, 2024

Authorization bypass in Proofpoint Insider Threat Management Server before 7.14.3 allows remote attackers to disclose content via DNS lookups. Multiple URL-validation endpoints process anonymous requests and resolve attacker-controlled content through DNS without checking authorization. Exploitation requires adjacency to the server network; the documented consequence is limited to confidentiality loss through DNS.
