Unauthorized object access via unchecked SOAP endpoints
Published Jun 27, 2023 · Updated Nov 6, 2024
Missing authorization in Proofpoint Insider Threat Management Server before 7.14.3 allows remote authenticated users to read and write objects. Multiple SOAP endpoints accept a valid agent authentication token but omit the authorization check that should constrain access to permitted objects. An attacker must be adjacent to the server and obtain an agent token; exploitation exposes and alters objects beyond that agent's authorization.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
