CVE-2023-35992

Memory corruption via wrapped vesc allocation

Published Jan 8, 2024 · Updated Nov 4, 2025

Integer overflow in GTKWave 3.3.115 allows context-dependent attackers to corrupt heap memory through a crafted FST file. In fstReaderIterBlocks2, a file-controlled 32-bit len value makes len * 4 + 1 wrap, so vesc receives a one-byte allocation before fstUtilityBinToEsc writes up to len escaped bytes. Exploitation requires a 32-bit build and user interaction to open the file; memory corruption can crash the process or permit arbitrary code execution.
