CVE-2023-3595Known exploitationNetwork attack vector

Persistent code execution via CIP memory overwrite

Published Jul 12, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Out-of-bounds writes in ControlLogix communication modules allow remote attackers to execute persistent code via crafted CIP messages. The CIP message-processing path accepts out-of-specification traffic to implemented objects and permits arbitrary writes to module memory or firmware. Network access to the module is sufficient; exploitation can alter or exfiltrate transit data and disrupt or manipulate control and view.
