HTTP filter bypass via mixed-case schemes
Published Jul 25, 2023 · Updated Oct 23, 2024
Improper input validation in Envoy allows remote attackers to bypass HTTP filters with mixed-case HTTP/2 schemes. HTTP and related filters accept mixed-case scheme values but compare them case-sensitively with lowercase http or https, producing inconsistent security decisions. An unauthenticated network request is sufficient; for example, the OAuth2 filter treats htTp as https and can skip checks limited to cleartext HTTP.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
