CVE-2023-35934Network attack vector

Cookie disclosure via unscoped downloader headers

Published Jul 6, 2023 · Updated Feb 13, 2025

Cookie exposure in the file downloader in yt-dlp before 2023.07.06 allows remote attackers to steal scoped cookies through redirects. At the file-download stage, yt-dlp copies every cookie into a raw Cookie header, discarding domain and path scope before native or external downloaders follow redirects or fetch fragments. Exploitation requires a user with loaded cookies to process an attacker-controlled download URL or manifest, after which cookies can reach an unauthorized host; curl and httpie 3.1.0 or later are excluded.
