Service interruption via unvalidated circular relationships
Published Jun 26, 2023 · Updated Dec 3, 2024
Denial of service in OpenFGA 1.1.0 and earlier allows remote attackers to interrupt authorization checks via circular models. Check and ListObjects constructed a type system without validating circular relationship definitions, allowing recursive evaluation to continue without a reachable exit. Unauthenticated API reachability and an affected model are required; triggering requests can exhaust service resources and interrupt authorization decisions.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
