CVE-2023-35932Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Configuration entry injection via unsanitized path input

Published Jun 23, 2023 · Updated Nov 27, 2024

Configuration injection in Haibao Tang JCVI 1.3.5 and earlier allows attackers to add entries to the ~/.jcvirc file via path input. The getpath() function passes stripped console input to RawConfigParser.set() without validation and later writes the resulting configuration to ~/.jcvirc. Command execution requires another code path to interpolate an injected value into a shell command; the demonstrated direct effect is persistent configuration modification.
