Authorization bypass via premature context cancellation
Published Jun 26, 2023 · Updated Nov 6, 2024
Incorrect authorization results in AuthZed SpiceDB 1.22.0 allow remote attackers to bypass access restrictions through LookupResources. The limit tracker cancels parallel Reachable Resources branches early, ignores the resulting cancellation error, and returns a partial resource set. The bypass occurs only when a consuming application treats absence from a LookupResources deny list as permission instead of using the Check API.
