CVE-2023-35921Network attack vector

Unauthenticated device hang via crafted Ethernet frames

Published Jul 11, 2023 · Updated Nov 13, 2024

Denial of service in Siemens SIMATIC MV500 devices before 3.3.4 allows remote attackers to hang readers via crafted Ethernet frames. Siemens has not disclosed the Ethernet-frame processing locus or the exact resource-exhaustion operation; the devices fail to process the crafted frames. Network access to the device is sufficient without authentication, and recovery requires a manual restart of the optical reader.
