Service interruption via OSCORE keyword over-read
Published Jun 19, 2023 · Updated Dec 11, 2024
Buffer over-read in libcoap 4.3.1 allows attackers to interrupt an OSCORE-enabled process via a crafted configuration keyword. coap_parse_oscore_conf_mem passes the parsed keyword length to memcmp when comparing it with shorter fixed keyword strings, causing a read beyond a string literal. The vulnerable path requires attacker-influenced OSCORE configuration text, and the published proof of concept produces an AddressSanitizer-detected crash.
