Information disclosure via unchecked packet header lengths
Published Jun 19, 2023 · Updated Dec 11, 2024
Out-of-bounds reads in VirtualSquare picoTCP 2.1 and earlier allow remote attackers to disclose memory via malformed IPv4 or TCP headers. The pico_ipv4_process_in and tcp_parse_options paths derive header offsets and lengths without first ensuring that the declared headers remain within the received frame buffer. Network access without authentication or user interaction is sufficient, and the published impact is limited to confidentiality.
