System crash via uncanceled saa7134 timers
Published Jun 18, 2023 · Updated May 5, 2025
Use-after-free in the Linux kernel before 6.3.2 allows physically proximate attackers to crash a system during saa7134 device removal. The saa7134 cleanup path frees the device while video, transport-stream, or VBI queue timers can remain active and later dereference it. Reachability requires a Philips SAA7134-based TV card and device or module removal, which requires physical access or local privilege.
