Unauthenticated code execution via unrestricted ParseControl invocation
Published Jun 17, 2023 · Updated Dec 17, 2024
Code injection in Sitecore Experience Manager, Platform, and Commerce 8.2 and 9.0 through 10.3 allows remote attackers to execute code. The sitecore_xaml.ashx handler accepts an attacker-controlled __PARAMETERS method call, invokes ParseControl, and instantiates attacker-selected .NET types without adequate method filtering. No authentication or user interaction is required; a reachable endpoint can load a remote assembly over outbound SMB or disclose application secrets in its HTTP response.
