Gateway shell hijacking via missing session validation
Published Oct 27, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Authentication bypass in Cassia Access Controller 2.1.1.2303271039 allows remote authenticated users to hijack gateway Web SSH sessions. The /ssh/host route enters a WebSSH2 session without validating the Access Controller portal cookie, while a 401 response instead solicits Basic Authentication credentials for the gateway. Exploitation requires an established gateway session plus its MAC address and SSH credentials; unchanged default gateway credentials provide root access.
