Stored XSS via unstripped indexed HTML
Published Jun 16, 2023 · Updated Dec 11, 2024
XSS in TYPO3 Faceted Search 4.0.2 and earlier, 4.1.0 through 4.6.5, and 5.0.0 through 5.0.1 allows remote authenticated users to run script. Indexers preserve HTML tags in file content, news keywords, and address fields, while Searchresult::buildTeaserContent strips tags only when search terms are present before rendering indexed content in HTML. Exploitation requires control of indexed source data; the injected script executes in the search-result viewer’s browser and can read or alter data available to that session.
