Root code execution via DDP filename overflow
Published May 7, 2024 · Updated Sep 18, 2024
Stack overflow in the D-Link DAP-2622 DDP service in firmware 1.00 allows network-adjacent attackers to execute arbitrary code. The firmware-upgrade handler copies an attacker-controlled filename into a fixed-length stack buffer without first validating its length. An attacker on the adjacent network needs no authentication and gains code execution as root.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
