CVE-2023-35725

Unauthenticated root code execution via DDP username overflow

Published May 3, 2024 · Updated Sep 18, 2024

Stack-based buffer overflow in D-Link DAP-2622 firmware 1.00 and earlier allows attackers to execute code as root via an adjacent network. The DDP user-verification handler copies an attacker-controlled Auth Username value into a fixed-length stack buffer without validating its length. No authentication is required, but the attacker must reach the access point over an adjacent network; successful exploitation grants full device control.
