CVE-2023-35717

Unauthenticated access via derivable recovery password

Published May 3, 2024 · Updated Sep 18, 2024

Authentication bypass in TP-Link Tapo C210 firmware 1.3.0 allows network-adjacent attackers to gain camera access without credentials. The password recovery mechanism generates a recovery password with a derivation algorithm whose secrecy is treated as its only protection. An attacker on the same network needs no existing account or user interaction to derive that password and gain unauthorized system access.
