Local privilege escalation via mock emergency location
Published Jul 14, 2023 · Updated Oct 31, 2024
Improper input validation in Android Telephony allows local users to send mock location data during an emergency call. GeoLocation.java's getLocationCache method accepts a mock location without adequately validating the input before using it for the call. No additional execution privileges or user interaction are needed, and exploitation corrupts the location data sent during the emergency call.
