CVE-2023-3569Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Administrative denial of service via XML entity expansion

Published Aug 8, 2023 · Updated Feb 27, 2025

XML entity expansion in Phoenix Contact TC ROUTER and TC CLOUD CLIENT firmware allows remote authenticated users to interrupt device services. The /usr/bin/xmlconfig parser expands recursive entity references from an uploaded configuration file without limiting expansion, causing excessive memory consumption and slowing other processes. Administrative access to configuration upload is required; affected releases are before 2.07.2, or before 2.06.10 for CLOUD CLIENT 1101T-TX/TX.
