Cross-user contact disclosure via unchecked result URI
Published Sep 11, 2023 · Updated Oct 29, 2024
Information disclosure in Android 11, 12, 12L, and 13 allows local users to import another device user's contacts through Telephony. Telephony accepts a GET_CONTENT result URI supplied by any app and reads it with its INTERACT_ACROSS_USER permission without verifying that the URI belongs to the current user. A malicious local app needs no additional execution privileges or user interaction; successful exploitation exposes contacts stored under another device user.
