Local privilege escalation via transaction cleanup use-after-free
Published Oct 11, 2023 · Updated Sep 18, 2024
Use-after-free in Google Android kernel allows local users with System execution privileges to escalate privileges through LWIS. The lwis_transaction_client_cleanup function in lwis_transaction.c uses transaction memory after its lifetime ends, corrupting kernel memory. Exploitation is local, requires System execution privileges, and needs no user interaction; successful use grants higher privileges.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
