Remote code execution via MSHTML use-after-free
Published Dec 12, 2023 · Updated Jan 1, 2025
Use-after-free in Microsoft Windows MSHTML allows remote attackers to execute code through a crafted email or malicious link. MSHTML accesses freed memory while processing attacker-controlled content, but Microsoft has not identified the affected object or function publicly. A crafted email can trigger during automatic Outlook retrieval before Preview Pane display; the alternate link path requires the recipient to click.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
