CVE-2023-35624

Local privilege escalation via unsafe link following

Published Dec 12, 2023 · Updated Jan 1, 2025

Link-following in Microsoft Azure Connected Machine agent before 1.37 allows local users to elevate privileges through crafted filesystem links. Microsoft maps the flaw to improper link resolution before file access but has not disclosed the affected component, path, or file operation. Exploitation requires existing low-privilege access and user interaction; successful link redirection grants higher local privileges.
