CVE-2023-35386Public exploit

Privilege escalation via registry log integer overflow

Published Aug 8, 2023 · Updated Aug 10, 2026

Out-of-bounds reads in the Windows kernel allow local users on affected Windows builds to elevate privileges through a crafted registry log. An integer calculation in the Configuration Manager registry .LOG parser overflows while processing a crafted log, causing reads beyond the log buffer. A low-privileged local account must trigger recovery of a malformed registry hive log; successful exploitation grants elevated kernel privileges.
