Unauthenticated remote code execution
Published Jul 11, 2023 · Updated Jan 1, 2025
Improper input validation in Microsoft Windows RRAS allows remote attackers to execute code through crafted network traffic. Microsoft identifies the weakness as improper input validation but has not disclosed the affected parser, message type, or erroneous operation. Exposure requires the RemoteAccess service to be enabled and reachable; it is disabled by default, while successful exploitation grants code execution on the host.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.

Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
