CVE-2023-35363

Local privilege escalation via kernel heap overflow

Published Jul 11, 2023 · Updated Jan 1, 2025

Heap-based buffer overflow in Microsoft Windows Kernel allows local users with low privileges to elevate privileges via a local application. Microsoft identifies heap memory corruption but has not disclosed the affected kernel routine, attacker-controlled input, or incorrect bounds operation. Exploitation requires local code execution under a low-privilege account and elevates that account's Windows privileges.
