Local elevation to SYSTEM privileges
Published Jul 11, 2023 · Updated Jan 1, 2025
Elevation of privilege in the Windows kernel allows local users with low privileges to gain SYSTEM privileges on affected Windows builds. Microsoft maps the issue to sensitive data stored in improperly locked memory but has not published the affected kernel locus or the incorrect operation on that memory. Exploitation requires a local, low-privilege foothold and high-complexity conditions; success grants SYSTEM-level control over confidentiality, integrity, and availability.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
