Out-of-bounds read in the Microsoft Windows kernel allows local users with low privileges to elevate access through registry virtualization. Registry virtualization can leave a layered key without backing storage, yet the kernel later references that key and reads beyond the valid object boundary. The attacker must already run code as a low-privileged local user; successful exploitation elevates privileges on the same host.
