Type confusion in the Windows kernel in affected Windows 10, Windows 11, and Windows Server releases allows local users to gain SYSTEM privileges. The Configuration Manager accesses predefined-handle registry keys through differencing hives as incompatible key objects, enabling an arbitrary kernel read. A low-privileged local account must execute code on the host; no network-only path or user interaction is reported.
