CVE-2023-3515Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Post-auth phishing redirects via incomplete backslash validation

Published Jul 5, 2023 · Updated Feb 13, 2025

Open redirect in Gitea before 1.19.4 allows remote authenticated users to send victims to an external site through a crafted post-login redirect. RedirectToFirst rejected only slash-led double separators, allowing a backslash-prefixed redirect_to value to produce a cross-domain Location header. Exploitation requires an authenticated POST flow and a victim who follows the resulting redirect, enabling phishing or credential theft.
