SYSTEM privilege escalation via unchecked named-pipe commands
Published Jul 14, 2023 · Updated Nov 5, 2024
Improper privilege control in Razer Central 7.11.0.558 and earlier allows local users to execute arbitrary code with SYSTEM privileges. RazerCentralService.exe exposes a named pipe to low-privilege clients and accepts crafted XML for AddModule or UninstallModules without adequate permission checks. A low-privilege Windows session can direct the SYSTEM service to launch an attacker-chosen executable, fully compromising the host.
