Open redirect via unvalidated SEO backURL
Published Jun 15, 2023 · Updated Oct 22, 2024
Open redirect in Liferay Portal 7.4.3.70 through 7.4.3.76 and DXP updates 70 through 76 allows remote attackers to redirect users. The Layout module's SEO configuration accepts the _com_liferay_layout_admin_web_portlet_GroupPagesPortlet_backURL parameter as an arbitrary external destination without restricting it to a trusted local URL. Exploitation requires a target user to open the crafted link, after which the redirect sends the browser to attacker-selected content outside the portal.
