Unauthenticated root command execution via phMonitor
Published Oct 10, 2023 · Updated Jan 14, 2026
OS command injection in Fortinet FortiSIEM allows remote attackers to execute commands as root via crafted phMonitor API requests. The handleStorageRequest handler places attacker-controlled server_ip and mount_point XML values into a command string passed to do_system_cancellable, a system() wrapper. The phMonitor service exposes the handler on TCP port 7900 without authentication, granting full appliance control and access to integrated-system secrets.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
