Service crash via overlong MAC parameter
Published Jun 12, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Stack overflow in ASUS RT-N10LX Router 2.0.0.39 allows remote attackers to crash the HTTP service via a crafted mac parameter. The formFilter handler accepts an overlong POST mac value despite its 12-character check and passes it to macFilterList, where a 104-byte stack buffer is overrun. No authentication or user interaction is required; successful exploitation terminates httpd and requires a router reboot to restore service.
