Service restart via unbounded UpdateMacClone parameter copy
Published Jun 28, 2023 · Updated Nov 27, 2024
Stack overflow in UpdateMacClone in H3C Magic B1ST B1STV100R012 allows remote attackers to restart the web service via a crafted POST request. The handler at /goform/aspForm uses sscanf with an unbounded %s conversion to copy the param value into a fixed stack array. No authentication or user interaction is required; the demonstrated consequence is a restart of the webs process, not device reboot or code execution.
