Unauthenticated web-service restart via unbounded sscanf
Published Jun 28, 2023 · Updated Nov 27, 2024
Stack-based buffer overflow in H3C Magic B1ST firmware B1STV100R012 allows remote attackers to restart its web service via a crafted POST request. The Edit_BasicSSID_5G handler at /goform/aspForm copies the param value into stack array v33 with an sscanf %[^;] conversion that imposes no length limit. No authentication is required, and an oversized param value restarts the webs process, interrupting the router management service.
