Web service restart via unbounded sscanf copy
Published Jun 28, 2023 · Updated Nov 27, 2024
Stack overflow in H3C Magic B1ST firmware 100R012 allows remote attackers to restart the web service via a crafted POST request. UpdateWanMode passes the param form value to sscanf with an unbounded %s conversion into the stack-based v6 array, causing an out-of-bounds write. No authentication or user interaction is required; an oversized value sent to /goform/aspForm interrupts the management service by restarting the webs process.
