Account takeover via unprotected password-change request
Published Jun 22, 2023 · Updated Dec 4, 2024
Cross-site request forgery in Casdoor 1.331.0 and earlier allows remote attackers to change a user's password through /api/set-password. The endpoint accepts a cross-origin POST containing userOwner, userName, and newPassword without a CSRF token or the current password. A logged-in victim must load an attacker-controlled page, which submits the password change under the victim's active session and enables account takeover.
