Stored script execution via unsanitized role description
Published Jun 27, 2023 · Updated Dec 2, 2024
Stored XSS in Microworld Technologies eScan Management Console 14.0.1400.2281 allows remote authenticated users to run scripts in users' browsers. The NewRole endpoint stores the Description field without sanitization, and RoleMainPage writes that value into HTML without output encoding. A valid console account and a later page view are required; the script executes in the viewer's authenticated session and can read session data or act as that user.
