Persistent infotainment crash via malformed OGG file
Published Jun 16, 2023 · Updated Dec 17, 2024
Denial of service in Volkswagen Discover Media 0876 allows physically proximate attackers to interrupt infotainment service via a USB OGG file. The USB Plug and Play media path automatically plays a mutated OGG file without handling the resulting exceptional condition, forcibly terminating the system. Physical USB-port access is required; the unit remains unable to start after engine cycling and needs a manual reboot, with no demonstrated code execution.
