Administrator-session script execution via unencoded backup errors
Published Jun 30, 2023 · Updated Nov 12, 2024
Reflected XSS in phpMyFAQ before 3.2.0-beta.2 allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript through a crafted backup file. The Core\Error exception handler inserted exception messages containing invalid backup-file content into HTML without entity encoding. Exploitation requires an administrator to restore the crafted file and trigger its error, after which the injected script runs in that administrator's browser context.
