Sandbox escape via unblocked print dialog
Published Jun 19, 2023 · Updated Dec 11, 2024
Sandbox escape in KioWare for Windows 8.33 and earlier allows local users to open an unprivileged command prompt through a print dialog. The KioWare Kiosk Browser's blocked-dialog blacklist fails to suppress the file dialog reached through window.print() and the Find Printer control; that dialog can launch the Windows command shell. JavaScript Printing must be enabled, and resulting commands run without elevated privileges.
