Code execution via unchecked pickup-trigger item ID
Published Jul 11, 2023 · Updated Nov 8, 2024
Buffer overflow in RobTop Games AB Geometry Dash 2.113 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code through a crafted level. GJBaseGameLayer::collectItem uses a level-supplied item ID to index the fixed m_itemValues int[1100] array without bounds checking, enabling out-of-bounds memory writes. A crafted level bypasses the editor's item-ID validation and turns pickup triggers into arbitrary memory writes that drive a ROP chain in the 32-bit game process.
