SMTP credential exposure via unrestricted mail configuration
Published Jun 23, 2023 · Updated Nov 29, 2024
Improper privilege management in XWiki Platform allows remote authenticated users to read SMTP credentials and alter mail settings. The Mail.MailConfig page ships without explicit view, edit, and delete restrictions, so inherited wiki rights permit any logged-in editor to access it. Ordinary edit rights suffice to expose the SMTP host and credentials and to change mail obfuscation and sending configuration.
