Stored script execution via HTML-typed plain output
Published Jun 23, 2023 · Updated Dec 5, 2024
Stored XSS in XWiki Platform allows remote authenticated users to execute scripts through a crafted editable wiki document. The rendercontent.vm template emits plain-syntax document output without changing the HTTP content type from HTML, so browsers interpret stored markup as active content. Exploitation requires document-edit rights and a victim to open a displaycontent or rendercontent URL; programming rights expose the installation to actions under that victim account.
