CVE-2023-34414Network attack vector

TLS certificate exception bypass via delayed rendering

Published Jun 19, 2023 · Updated Feb 13, 2025

Clickjacking in Firefox before 114, Firefox ESR before 102.12, and Thunderbird before 102.12 lets remote attackers bypass TLS certificate warnings. The invalid-certificate error page omits the activation delay used for permission prompts, so queued clicks can activate its exception button during a renderer-induced display lag. Exploitation requires carefully timed user clicks, immediate navigation to an invalid-certificate site, and deliberate renderer load; success records a certificate exception for that site.
