Unauthenticated privilege escalation via malformed URL normalization
Published Jun 6, 2023 · Updated Jan 8, 2025
Path traversal in Percona Monitoring and Management Server 2.0.0 through 2.37.0 allows remote attackers to bypass authentication. The authenticate function in auth_server.go strips dot- or slash-delimited URL segments until an unauthenticated-route rule matches, without canonicalizing the request path. A crafted POST to an unauthenticated API route can consequently reach protected APIs, disclose PMM logs, and escalate privileges without credentials.
