CVE-2023-34342

Arbitrary file access via IPMI path traversal

Published Jun 12, 2023 · Updated Jan 3, 2025

Path traversal in AMI MegaRAC SP-X 12.0 through 12.6 and 13.0 through 13.4 allows local users to read and write arbitrary files. The IPMI handler fails to confine a supplied path to its intended directory, so file-transfer operations can reach files elsewhere on the BMC. AMI scores exploitation as local and high-privileged; reads disclose data, while writes can tamper with data or escalate privileges.
